Happiness is a choice. No matter what is going on in your life or what your circumstances are, you can choose to focus on the positive and choose to be happy. You can choose to avoid dwelling on your negative thoughts. I know it is not always easy and sometimes life can really break us down. However, if you prioritize happiness and positive thinking in your life, that will help you overcome any negative situation. When you choose happiness over and over again, you are reshaping your mindset. You will find yourselves appreciating the little things in life. You will begin to find value in everyday life when you didn’t before. It all comes down to your mindset and what we choose to put into our minds.
Make Good Choices
I know it might sound crazy, but we often don’t make choices that result in a happy and positive mindset. For example, how many Facebook posts did you just have to comment your opinion on today? How many friends do you say things to, knowing you will get into a disagreement? How many times a day do you insult yourself and get mad about things that you’ve done or the way that you are?
When it comes down to it, a lot of the negativity in our life comes from what we allow into it. The next time you are making plans, truly think about the effects of that plan. Will it make you happier? Or, will you return home with more negativity than you had before? Our choices directly affect what we think. If you want a positive mindset, you have to be more selective about what you put into it.
Remove Toxicity From Your Life
I know that this might sound harsh in the beginning but for some people, this might be necessary. For someone like me, I have a lot of friends that I fundamentally disagree with about everything. As much as we love each other, I almost always feel negative and sad after we hang out because I am either misunderstood or offended by their thoughts and actions. There may come a time where you have to remove people from your life, at least temporarily. Focus on feeding your mind with positive people and positive discussions. And, if you miss those other friendships, try planning an activity based event that won’t involve the conversations that trigger you. When you yourself represent that happiness and positivity that you want to see in the world, other people will pick up on that. This is why being mindful is the key to being happy.
A Happy Future
Once you remove the toxic people from your life and get rid of that toxic energy, you can focus on having positive and encouraging discussions. You have the power to paint the life that you want. Yes, there is a lot of negativity in this world, but that gives each and every one of us more of a reason to be happy and be positive. We have the power to be the happiness that someone else needs.
When we think happy thoughts, it not only allows us the freedom to live in a positive mindset, but we also project that onto other people. We become untouched and unfazed by the negativity around us because we are in a much healthier headspace. This allows us to spread the love and hope for a happy future that we all want. Don’t underestimate yourself. Don’t ever think that the world is so negative that you don’t have any other choice. Be positive. Be different. Be happy!
