Imagine being in line at Starbucks, pulling up to the drive-thru window, and realizing that the person in front of you has already paid for your drink. There might be a million thoughts running through your head, but you are sure to be happy and thankful. It probably comes as a reminder that there are still good people out there in the world who want to spread kindness and positivity. When you receive an act of kindness like this, it is encouraged to pass it along. The idea here is that if more people actively invested in spreading positivity and love, the world would be a better place.
Being mindful of your daily intentions and purpose is such an important motivator. When you prioritize a positive mindset, you are investing in yourself and your ability to spread that message. Negativity is poisonous and will only bring you down. When we actively choose to put out into the world what we want to receive, we are contributing to a cycle of positivity. It’s so easy to say that you wish the world was a better place or you wish people were nicer. The truth of the matter is that there are so many nice and kind people out there in existence, but they aren’t spreading what they have inside because they aren’t consciously thinking about it. Being mindful involves bringing awareness to your goals and intentions. If kindness is something that you would like to see more of in this world, it starts from within.
Focus On Positivity
Positivity is a choice. It is a mindset and how you choose to view the world. You can choose to see the bad, or you can choose to see the good. Often times we see an outpouring of love, positivity, and hope right after tragedies strike. For example, after mass shootings, there are usually people waiting in line to donate blood. This surge of positivity is great and desperately needed to remind us that good will always outweigh evil. However, what if we didn’t wait for the tragedies? What if we lived our lives constantly trying to spread positivity?
Spreading positivity does not require you to spend a lot of money. Simple acts like buying a coffee, or giving a few bucks to a homeless person are great, but there are other ways. Consider writing positive posts on your social media account. Consider building people up and encouraging them. You can even write uplifting messages on napkins and leave them on a table for the next person to see. These are all little things, but when you focus on positivity in your own life, it becomes so much easier and more important for you to spread that joy to everyone else around you.
Kill Them With Kindness
Kindness is key, and it will always be stronger than negativity. Focusing on being kind actually makes you more powerful. Building people up with your actions and words can change the world so much faster than negativity can. This is because people crave kindness and too often they don’t experience it in their daily lives. Knowing that you have done one small act of kindness will bring more positivity into your life. However, that one small act of kindness could mean the world to someone else.
We don’t know everyone’s life story. We don’t know what their path has been or what they are currently going through. I remember times when I was feeling extremely stressed, overwhelmed, and depressed. Just a few kind words from a stranger at a coffee shop or at the hair salon changed my entire day. When it comes down to it, life can be hard. But, people want to be happy and they want to enjoy every day. When you allow yourself to assist others in that goal, you help to make the world a better place.
